Cotton yarn exports continue to register considerable growth all through February 2006.
Yarn exports in February reached 390.2 million Thai baht, a significant rise from January's 365.3 million baht and 15.0 percent increase over February 2005.
The US emerged as the top export destination with 79.3 percent rise to reach 54.55 million, while those to Hong Kong rose almost 633 percent to 53.09 million baht.
Among other major destinations were Japan, China, North and South Korea.
Thailand's cotton yarn exporters are now concentrating chiefly on higher-count, high-quality yarns which have firm and increasing demand in countries like the US.
However, cotton yarn imports in February reached 99.642 million baht representing a 10.2 percent rise over February 2005 but a sharp decline from January this year.
China, India and Pakistan were the top suppliers with shipments from India soaring 114.4 percent to touch 24.726 million baht.
