In Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh about 1,600 sheep died after grazing in fields where Bt cotton had been harvested.
A team of Centre for Sustainable revealed that these sheep died from Bt toxin near Ippagudem in Ghanapur mandal, Madipalli in Hasanparthi mandal and Unikicherla in Dharmasagar mandal. These sheep, supposedly, consumed leaves and pods of Bt cotton plant residues.
