China's cotton imports decline in Jan-Sept'14

The quantity of cotton imported by China in the first nine months of 2014 decreased by a sharp 37.9 percent year-on-year to 2 million tons, according to customs statistics.
 
In September 2014, China imported 122,900 tons of cotton, down 81,600 tons or 40 percent from August 2014 imports, and down 39 percent compared to the same month of last year.
 
The average import price worked out to US$ 2,045/ton in September 2014, down $105/ton or 4.9 percent from August, and a decline of 6.9 percent from September last year.
 
During the previous cotton season from September 2013 to August 2014, China imported 3.003 million tons, according to the data.
