According to the Cotton Assessment Committee (CAC), only 12.3 million bales of cottonseed (phutti) arrived at the ginning plant at the end of the present crop season as against 14.3 million bales previous year.
The cotton reaching the factories was 0.2 million bales less than the target of 12.5 million bales set by the CAC, comprised by the ministry of agriculture, food and livestock for this year's crop season.
About 74,400 bales of cotton were sold to exporters and 11,592,179 bales were sold to the textile mills, while unsold stocks stood at 793,045 bales, said a report on cotton influx in firms issued by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA).
