The UGF also urged the World Bank and Asian Development Bank to insist that the Uzbek government demonstrates financial transparency and accountability around cotton production as a condition for releasing project loans and publicly report on progress.
The UGF recommended that international companies operating in Uzbekistan refuse demands to contribute personnel, cash, or in-kind to the cotton harvest and report requests for such contributions publicly and to home-country governments. (SH)
