Barbados is going to face severe labour crises when the planting season of cotton starts on Aug, 15 and ends on Sep, 15 and during the harvesting season from Jan to May, 2007.

According to Chief Agriculture Officer, Barton Clarke, seeds were available in plenty through the Exclusive Cotton of the Caribbean Inc. (ECCI).

He stated that the Agriculture Ministry was working closely with ECCI and others to find a solution of labour problem.

Clarke informed that the total yield of 70,000 pounds of lint in 2006 season was better compared to 2005 as it had yielded 50,000 pounds only.
