Drought likely to shrink cotton farming area

Sources anticipate that due to the recent drought, this season the cotton plantation area will just be around 25 percent of what is usually under cultivation.

The month of August recorded the driest period in the history since 1900.

Hence, farmers are forced to depend on the leftover water from the past season.

However, traders are hopeful that with limited supply and growing demand, the cotton prices will hike significantly.
