Though it is drought this year, cotton yield is expected to be high, informed Manager of Southern Kansas Cotton Growers Association, Gene Latham.

He stated that cultivated area of cotton increased 61 percent and total yield will touch around 130,000 bales.

One of the growers stated that due to volatile rain yield of cotton is very hard to predict.

Cotton is gaining ground across Kansas region compared to past decade and in last year vast warehousing facility had been added at Liberal in Kansas by Southern Kansas Cotton Growers.

Kansas cotton growers are at advantage as they have large area of cotton fields and harmful boll weevil is absent in Kansas cotton fields which provides better growth opportunities as well as earning potential to local cotton growers.
