Cotton yarn exports of Brazil continue to slide with the fall of 48.3 percent in August to only 1,150 tons. Cotton yarn exports have also fallen to 10,089 tons, decline of 40.2 percent.
The decline has been attributed to the fall of exports to two prime markets Argentina and the US.
Exports to Argentina fell to 692 tons, a fall of 50.6 percent compared to previous year exports.
The US is an important market for Brazil's cotton export but it has been declining since 2005. Export was at 1,477 tons, a further decline of 40 percent for Jan-Aug period.
Further adding to the agony is the fact that exports to market like Chile, Peru and Uruguay have also fallen sharply.
