In spite of bumper crop, no one is asking for Minimum Support Price (MSP) as the cotton has already been booked and official listed out it as another reason for farmers not committing suicide solely due to cotton fiasco.
PM asked for better farm practices and land expansion in order to reach the target of 50 billion dollar textile export by 2010 which will require 350 lakh bales of cotton production.
For the last five years, India's cotton production has increased its share in world's cotton production leaving behind countries like US, Australia, Brazil and the European Union.
