Domestic textile and apparel industry imported 16.6 thousand tons of cotton worth US $20.3 million, for the month of August 2006, sources from Ministry of trade OT said.
For the first eight months this year, the figures recorded a volume of 122 thousand tones, cost $146.2 million, rose 7.8 percent and 17.1 percent from same period last year.
In regard to supplying market, its structure witnessed stability as three top suppliers were remained, including India with share of 20.8 percent, US for 25 percent and England for 3.4 percent.
During the period, imports from France made sharp growth, up by 134 percent from same period in 2005.
