Clean Cotton programme which targets to produce 100, 000 bales of clean and standard cotton has been initiated.
The cotton is to be produced in 23 ginning factories selected by Provincial Agriculture Department in consultation with concerned organizations and departments.
Clean and graded cotton producers will be given premium of 50/md by the Government.From a total of 84187 mds of seed cotton which have been received at five ginning factories, 46521 mds have been declared as clean cotton phuti.
Cotton bales of grade II quality which staple length I-I/16 have been sold at premium of around Rs250 per bale which is higher than the market price.
Rs70 million has been kept by the Government for paying the farmers who produce clean cotton which will be shared on equal basis between Federal and Provincial Governments.
