Cotton export may decline due to increase in local processing

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister, while opening Second Uzbek cotton fair said that purpose of the fair was to ascertain transparency of cotton export and forging a long-term relation with customers.
He said that this year 25 companies were participating in the fair compared to 169 in 2005 which shows that their aim was being fulfilled.
Mirziyoyev unveiled the plan of producing one million ton of cotton fibres in 2006 from which 270, 000 tons will be processed in the country itself. The country will be processing over 500, 000 tons of fibre and subsequently country's export will go down as a result.
500,000 tons of cotton fibre which was produced in 2006 will be on show for sale as part of the fair.
