Cotton industry faces problems from all sides
24 Oct '06
1 min read
Cotton Production has emerged as a major problem as the domestic demand is continuously falling.
Currently production estimates stand at 20.5 million bales while the domestic demand is just around 5-6 million bales.
Due to uncertain weather conditions, cotton growers expected a significant hike in the prices.
However, abundant supply and low demand is maintaining the rates.
Infact the same situation threatened to lower the prices.
Fortunately, the demand from China has supported the prices, but even export forecast is likely to show lower figures.
Thus, the cotton industry is facing difficulties from all sides and is struggling to find appropriate solutions.
