Seven tons of cotton seeds have been distributed by the Government to farmers in Meru North district for plantation this season.
Mr Patrick Ng'ang'a, the District Agricultural Officer informed that 22.5 tons of seed was needed to meet the target of 3, 210 cotton farmers in the area.
He appealed to farmers to plant more cotton crops as Government was giving them credit at an easy rate. Cotton farming has declined in the area as farmers were unable to buy certified seeds and were not making profit due to unavailability of marketing network.
