Sikander Hayat Bosan, the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock announced that the Government has extended subsidy on DAP (di-ammonium phosphate) fertiliser for an unlimited period; he was addressing a group of media persons at a reception in Latifabad.

The scheme was introduced to promote small growers to use DAP fertiliser to facilitate the increase in per acre yield of crops. If the scheme got good response from the growers, the subsidy could be raised from Rs250 to Rs400 per bag, he proposed.

While talking about the BT cotton, he said “Let me say we are not against BT cotton, we are only concerned about the fact that the gene of BT cotton should be environment-friendly to avoid disasters.”
