Target of 1 lakh clean cotton bales set for ginneries

Pakistani Government had selected about 47 ginning factories of Punjab and Sindh to achieve a production target of 1 lakh clean cotton bales this season. The factories have produced 10,650 bales until now.
Pakistan Cotton Standard Institute (PCSI) has released a statement which says 1,89,464 maunds of cotton seeds have been certified as clean of the total 6,17,225 maunds obtained at these factories till now. Clean Cotton Programme for 2006-07 initiated by Ministry of Textile Industry in alliance with governments of Sindh and Punjab is active.
Statement shows that 8,800 bales of the gross 10,650 clean lint cotton bales from the factories were supplied to spinning industries and exporters.
If the group of professionals under PCSI classer and ginner representatives certifies the cotton seed received by factories as clean, farmers and suppliers of the cotton are remunerated Rs50 per maund by government.
The production target of 1 lakh clean cotton bales is anticipated to be complete by end of this season.
