The cotton leaf curl virus (CLVC) had been discouraging the farmers for a quite long time.
The Punjab Seed Corporation has decided to take a preventive measure for this. The Corporation will introduce a new cotton crop variety which has reasonably better resistance against leaf curl virus and these seed will be made available to the growers.
Use of pyrethroids to control of whitefly will be dispirited and use of IGRs like Buprofezen on the spring crops will be encouraged for its control.
With teses measures taken Punjab will harvest fairly satisfactory cotton crop and achieve production target of 10 million bales in current year.
