Cotton yarn exports slow down in 2006

Cotton yarn exports slowed down this October representing year-on-year drop of around 15 percent.

Exports to most top markets suffered with Hong Kong recording the biggest decline at 70 percent, followed by Japan at 38 percent fall.

Supply to the US and China also witnessed a slump at 36 and 38 percent, respectively.

Total yarn exports for the month earned around 334 million Thai baht, up from 287.8 million in September.

January-November exports have reached 3.45 billion baht, which represented an 11.2 percent year-on-year decline.

As for imports, Pakistan ranked as the top cotton yarn supplier, though total imports pluged 12.7 percent to 139.7 million baht.
