Ban on lint cotton import through the Wagha border from India has created a shortage of about two million bales in Pakistan.

Pakistan is facing a shortage of cotton due to poor domestic production.

Government's decision to continue ban on cotton import via land route has annoyed the spinners as well as textile manufacturers.

At present, cotton bales imported from India through Amritsar-Mumbai-Karachi-Lahore, is a very costly affair. The import of cotton bales through Wagha border would reduce the cost of transportation.
