From January-September 2006, total yarn output was 12.4339 million tons, an increase of 21.6 percent over the same period last year; fabrics output accumulated at 31.929 billion meters, an increase of 16.15 percent. Of which, the contribution rate of cotton cloth, blended cloth and pure chemical fiber cloth were 55.42 percent, 14.59 percent and 29.99 percent, respectively, roughly in line with their proportions. Annual output of yarn is expected to reach 17.72 million tons; annual cloth yield is expected to amount 45.4 billion meters.
In the period, the total profits of China's cotton textile industry reached 13.59 billion yuan, a hike of 41.02 percent on year-on-year basis. Among which, Dyeing industry profits amounted to 1.996 billion yuan, an increase of 14.95 percent, accounted for 14.69 percent of the total profits of cotton textile industry.
The sales profit margin of above-scale enterprises in the entire industry was 7.2 percent, below 7.44 percent of the same period last year, while the profit rate was 3.28 percent, higher than 2.91 percent of the same period last year. It is estimated that operating income in non-primary business increasingly enlarges its percentage in total profit amount.
As a basic preceding industry for overall textile industry, the main reason for the rapid growth of cotton textile production is the strong pull from downstream market. Domestic marketing still has a dominant position. In January-September 2006, export delivery value accounted for 13.33 percent of the sales revenue of primary industry, a decrease of two percent from the same period last year.
