In order to investigate problems found in the 2005-2006 cotton farming campaign, Benin Government has set up a commission on December 20, 2006.

Cotton production of this year is expected to fall short by 500,000 tons from target as production likely to reach 250,000 tons only.

Farmers are blaming input suppliers for poor performance while input suppliers hold farmers responsible for lack of knowledge about using farming inputs.
