Fire burns 8,500 cotton bales at Jaber Spinning Mill

Jaber Spinning Mill and its warehouse located in Sreepur Upazila caught fire on December 24, 2006 in the morning, due to which cotton and other property were destroyed.
Factory was partially burnt down and nearly 8,500 cotton bales were gutted by this blaze. Total loss of Tk22 crores is anticipated by mill authorities.
Fire was brought under control after eight hours of struggle by fire tenders from Gazipur, Dhaka and Tongi. Sources informed that an electric short circuit at the cotton warehouse during mid-day could have caused the inferno.
