Cotton import up 55% by Nov

The latest Customs statistics show that in November 2006 China imported 115,000 tons of cotton, increasing 30,000 tons over last month, higher 31.2 percent from the prior month, but less 110,000 tons than the same period last year, a decrease of 49.3 percent on a year-to-year basis.

During the September-November 2006, China imported 331,000 tons cotton, less 55.1 percent from the same period last year. China's imports of cotton from January to November 2006 totaled 3.365 million tons, an increase of 51.3 percent over the same period last year.
