Around two years ago Maharashtra Government implemented the cotton contract farming scheme that invites collaboration from commercial textile players.
However, official sources said that till now there have been no operational deals under this project.
Yet, administration remains optimistic and stresses that contract cotton farming would be profitable to both farmers and the industry.
Statistics prove that unofficial contract farming in Gujarat, expanded the cotton yield three-fold.

Government urged the textile sector to take advantage of this scheme, which will be equally beneficial for cotton growers.
