Cotton yarn imports up 11.5%

During the January-November 2006 period cotton yarn imports witnessed year-on-year rise of nearly 11.5 percent to reach 186,536 tons.
Cotton-blend yarn imports soared almost 47 percent to raise the total yarn imports by 13.5 percent.
India remained top supplier for South Korea with over 5 percent rise to touch 81,504 tons by December 2006, followed by Pakistan at 45,218 tons.
Imports from China registered record high surge of 76.9 percent to 31,443 tons.
Meanwhile, exports plunged more than 25 percent to 23,568 tons.
