Country grown Bt variety has potential to yield 30 percent extra than other traditional varieties. It is pest-resistant and tolerant to heat. Seminar will be attended by participants from 65 nations inclusive of African cotton counties.
Cotton seeds developed by institutes under Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) will be sold at economical rates at a display center near NIBGE.
Pakistan had to import 2 million cotton bales from India to meet local demand, because of fall in production. Homegrown Bt cotton is a good alternative for boosting cotton production.
