Zhejing issues claim for inferior cotton imports from US

Recently, Zhejing Provincial Inspection and Quarantine Bureau discovered 550 pounds of rotten cotton when inspecting the import container from the US by a textile company.

They quickly issued a certificate of claim to the seller.

Now the seller has agreed to compensate Chinese textile enterprise for their losses.

Some experts from Zhejiang inspection and quarantine department point out that at present the quality of imported cotton is not high, the mainly reason is that China's textile industry is developing rapidly after entering WTO, so the demand for imported cotton has been brisk.

However, domestic cotton production is far from meeting the huge demand. The shortfall of cotton supply causes immense pressure and forces many enterprises to reluctantly choose cotton imports.
