25 Jan '07
1 min read
In Apac, cotton price rose to sh450 per kilogram compared to sh350 in 2005.
Twin buyers and
Dunavant
, major competitors in the area, were purchasing cotton from every possible source.
Agents were visiting every house that had planted cotton and give advance to them to sell the crop.
Both these companies have at least two shops in every village. Farmers were demanding more for the balance of cotton in the ginneries.
Buyers were not satisfied with the cotton as farmers have not removed weeds from the crop properly.
