A source from the agriculture ministry revealed that the cotton mills in the country produced around 70,000 tons of ginned cotton since March 2006.
The country has around 110,000 hectares of cotton farming area.
Earlier the country could meet the domestic demand of cotton supply but with the farming area constantly shrinking, Government has to import about 50,000 tons of ginned cotton annually.
