MUMBAI:
Majority of ginners have already purchased and stored a good quantity of select cotton varieties at higher price.

Domestic markets are presently very firm.

Domestic units have yet to complete their marginal buying of cotton.

The arrivals of cotton in the country as on today have crossed 225 lakh bales (each of 170 kg).

Fresh demand from mills is very low and new export business has dried up completely, a local broker said.

Domestic cotton prices in the country may come down in the next few days mainly on increased supply, restricted buying interest from mills and exporters.

With prices high and quality down, markets have to come down from next week.

Prices of select major varieties including V-797, S-6 and J-34 were up by Rs500-600 per quintal to Rs4,300, Rs5,455 and Rs5060 per quintal over past month.

Total daily arrivals have dwindled to about 50,000-60,000 bales.
