Cotton sales price in domestic market
According to market observations, the average sales price of standard level (grade three) in domestic market was 13,033 yuan per ton in early March, and rose to 13,045 yuan by mid-March, again increased to 13,047 yuan by the end of March.
The monthly average price was 13,042 yuan; rising 54 yuan compared to the previous month (up 0.4 percent), but less 1,270 yuan from the same period last year, a decline of 8.9 percent.
Cotton price in international market
International spot market price of A index was 59.9 cents per pound in early March, and rose to 60.0 cents in mid-March, but fell to 59.9 cents (about 10,300 yuan per ton, and translated into about 13,300 yuan per ton after plus tariff, VAT and port charges) in late March.
The monthly average price was 59.9 cents per pound, rising 0.7 cents over the previous month (up 1.2 percent), a growth of 1.3 cents over the same period last year, up 2.2 percent.
At New York Board of Trade (NYBOT), recently delivered cotton price was 54.9 cents per pound in early March, fell to 53.7 cents in mid-March, and further dropped to 53.5 cents (approximately translated into 9,200 yuan per ton).
The monthly average price was 54.0 cents per pound, an increase of 0.2 cents over the previous month (up 0.4 percent), 0.3 cents higher than the same period last year and a growth of 0.5 percent.
