Statistics show that Kasese farmers grossed 30 percent more income per every kilogram of cotton by trading through Warehouse Receipt System.

According to this system, farmers deposit their produce in an authorized warehouse and get a certificate, which they can use to look for market or present as guarantee for loan.

By using this program the farmers were able to get higher value for their product than the Cotton Development Organisation's initial quotations.

The main aim of this system is not to purchase but to provide an opportune market and other necessary information to the cotton growers.

Commissioner for Cooperative Development, Fred Mwesigye beamed, “We want the farmers to have a say in determining not only the prices of their products but also their consumers."
