Even though US and EU have imposed quotas on Chinese textile products, first quarter 2007 has seen good results in export of cotton products. The export value reached US $1.973 billion with a rise of 4.81 percent compared to the same period last year.

At present, 63 percent of the total export is under non-quota exports.

In recent years, the quick spread of Chinese cotton textile industry compels enterprises to enlarge export.

Moreover, the cotton and cotton products imported by China still continue to decrease. In the first quarter this year, China imported US $1.675 billion worth of cotton and cotton products, with a decrease rate of 32.78 percent.

The general trade import decreased much, it was just US $243 million, down 72.62 percent.
