Cotton cloth export structure change in 2007

In January-March 2007, China's cotton cloth exports reached 1.349 billion meters, earning around US $1.551 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 2.44 percent and 5.10 percent, respectively.

exports of cotton printed fabrics and cotton blended dyed fabrics showed a faster growth, while that of all the other items fell several points, reflecting a major changes in the structure of cotton cloth industry.

Exports of cotton printed cloth marked 279 million meters, cotton blended dyed fabrics reached 28.26 million meters, a boost of 39.58 percent and 17.21 percent, respectively. In terms of value, export of both products amounted to $246 million and $42.58 million, rising 44.77 and 31.28 percent, respectively.

The change in cotton cloth export structure is a clear demonstration of the new attempt by cotton textile industry in its structural adjustment and improvement of added value products.

The national cotton export price is averaged at $1.15 per meter in January-March, 2007.
