Authority forecasts that second-generation cotton bollworm will break out in Shandong Province, where Heze and Jining areas will register neither-severe-nor-slight impact.
The occurrence time has advanced by 2-3 days than previous years. The first-generation adult bollworm will be in full swing by June 15-25, and the peak days for the second-generation egg will attack around June 20.
In recent years, outbreak of cotton bollworm has increased. From the base number of insects and the occurrence of the first-generation, cotton bollworm hits much earlier and is more serious this year.
This is forcing related sectors to take aggressive measures for prevention and control, much in advance.
