Cotton imports crash in May

According to customs data, in May 2007, China's cotton imports declined to 201,200 tons, reducing 13,000 tons from the previous month.

This also recorded a drop of 263,000 tons from the same period of last year.

The figure is also 50 percent lower from the increase of the corresponding time last year. From September 2006 to May 2007 China imported 1.538 million tons of cotton.
