The latest statistics from China Textile Industry Association show that national yarn output reached 1.834 million tons in June 2007, a slight increase compared to May. Among them, cotton yarn output reached 1.4367 million tons.
From January to June 2007, China's total yarn output amounted to around 9.27 million tons, an increase of about 20 percent over the same period previous year. Within them, cotton yarn output touched 7.31 million tons, a rise of 22.22 percent.
Due to augmented cotton yarn production, spinning industry has also attained a speedy growth during this time.
Among yarn producing provinces, Shandong ramained the largest producer in China, with output reaching 4,48,000 tons.
Meanwhile, production in provinces like Jiangsu, Henan, Fujian also continued to maintain a rapid growth. In June 2007, cotton yarn production in these three regions were 2,72,200 tons, 2,00,800 tons and 7,91,900 tons respectively.
From January to June 2007, Shandong and Jiangsu Provinces, the two traditional cotton yarn producers, accounted for 50 percent of the national production, especially Shandong's yield represented for one third of the country's total output.
