Cotton yarn output spirals upwards

According to statistics revealed by the China Textile Industry Association, the output of Chinese yarn in the first half of 2007 was around 9.28 million tons, up 21.07 percent compared to same period last year.

To be more specific, cotton yarn's output was around 7.31 million tons, up 22.22 percent than the same period last year. The production of Chinese textile industry, especially cotton textile industry, also increased considerably.

Shandong Province topped the list of most cotton yarn producing regions. Its output in June this year was 0.44 million tons. The cotton yarn output of Henan Province was 0.20 million tons in June. Jiangsu Province and Fujian Province also maintained a steady growth in output of the commodity.

The cotton yarn output of Shandong and Jiangsu provinces alone accounted for 50 percent of the overall output.
