A sample survey by national cotton market monitoring system under cotton reserves Management Corporation shows that till July 25, China has completed a total acquisition of around 6.52 million tons cotton this year, an increase of 17.9 percent on year.
In this cotton year, which runs from August 2006 to September 2007, the country processed 6.485 million tons of cotton, a year-on-year increase of 18.3 percent.
Total sale of cotton touched 6.067 million tons, a rise of 54.9 percent over the same time last year and addition of 3,00,000 tons of Xinjiang cotton from reserves auction. Sales reached 6.367 million tons, a boost of 12,000 tons from July 20.
