Abddin Mohammed Ali, General Director of Sudan Cotton Company, said in a press conference that the company has paid a sum of SDG 12,365 million to farmers, covering all pending interests, adding that it has no obligations towards any local or foreign financers.

Ali also said that of the total amount, SDG 17 million were paid to cover losses incurred because of the impurity found in cotton as well as bad conduct on the part of some farmers.

Abddin also termed previous year's production of 385 bales as poor and added that the company has abandoned a brand of cotton plant called 'Nura' because despite its high quality, it is highly susceptible to insects.
