Strong participation at Intl Cotton Conference, Turkey

Dario Katata, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development returned from Turkey after representing Angola in the 66th International Cotton Conference Consultative Council held from November 22 to 26.
Main theme for the conference was to revive productivity and competition in the cultivation of cotton.
With regard to Angola, Mr Katata stated that the country was going through a phase of rejuvenating cotton cultivation by creating basis for resuming the activity. As a matter of fact, prior to independence, the country was considered to be the biggest exporter of cotton.
Although, Angola Government presently allows only one agricultural project, it is believed that from the coming year, cotton cultivation will be carried out on a wide scale.
