Cotton farmers of Kansas were quite disappointed when prices for corn rose in the Kansas City.
Although Cotton is relatively a new crop in Kansas, most of the growers shifted to this as it requires less water and fertilizer than corn. But higher demand of corn for ethanol industry registered a rise in its prices, frustrating cotton producers.
According to the Kansas Agriculture Statistics Service estimates that this year, farmers will harvest only 50,000 acres of cotton, which will be down 115,000 acres compared to last year.
However, few farmers are of the opinion that cotton prices will bounce back in the next year.
