Brazil is constantly expanding its cotton production and with continued vigor it is likely to become a leading cotton producing zone.

According to statistics, Brazil has grown nearly seven million bales of cotton in 2007 recording an increase of 47 percent compared to the produce of the previous year.

The total land under cultivation estimated at over 1 million hectares and the yield was around 6-7 bales per hectares grown on dry land basis.

Exports are likely to reach 450,000 tons this season and may even go over 500,000 tons in the future. This would give a significant exposure to Brazilian products in the world market.

Cotton growers associations have paid promotional visit to Japan, China, Taiwan, India, Thailand and Italy and it is hoped that these trips would bear fruits.
