Cotton import accelerate as Intl prices dip

This apart, national yarn output in April touched 1.815 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.1 percent. From last September to April this year, national total yarn output fetched 13.55 million tons, showing an increase of 11.2 percent. From January to April this year, China's total yarn output completed 6.41 million tons, an increase of 11.4 percent from the year before.

Statistics also revealed that, textile and garment exports in April reached US $14.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.3 percent. From January to April this year, China's total textile and garment exports represented $51.7 billion, up 17.1 percent. From last September to April this year, exports of textiles and garments accumulated fetched $113.9 billion, soaring by 17.7 percent.

Pure cotton yarn 32s averaged at 18,925 yuan per ton, unchanged from the previous month while PSF averaged at 11,377 yuan per ton, dipping 177 yuan or 1.5 percent from the previous month.
