According to the State Information Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), the first batch of cotton fibre from Amu Darya River valley has already been dispatched for Turkey and Seychelles.

In the first five months of 2008, Turkmenistan met world demand for 20 thousands tons of textile raw materials through its Lebap region.

Switzerland, Britain and Singapore were some of the major importers of cotton raw materials produced in Turkmenistan.

Revenue generated from the export of these textile raw materials have contributed significantly to the overall development of the country's economy.

Experts believe that by the end of this year exports of cotton and other textile raw materials from Turkmenistan is likely to increase considerably.
