Recently, China requested the US Government to stop providing cotton allowance to its domestic cotton enterprises as well as cotton farmers.

Chinese high-level official, Mr Zhang Xiangchen, explained that these huge allowances were adversely affecting the income of cotton farmers and dealers in the developing countries, as it is affecting the exports of these nations.

This was seriously shrinking the profits cotton traders in Africa as well as 150 million Chinese farmers.

In fact, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad as well as Mali have been fighting against these US cotton allowances since 2003.
