Cotton seed sales to reap bumper harvest

Cotton seed manufacturers are expecting to reap a bumper harvest in the upcoming season, following appreciation in prices of cotton due to the increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) implemented by the government in the just completed cotton season.

Cotton seed sales are expected to grow substantially as cotton area under cultivation is expected to increase. Sowing of cotton is expected to begin in the next 15-20 days and is normally done between April and mid-May.

The farmers can also expect cotton seeds to be made available to them at last year prices, since pricing of cotton is laid down by the state government as it was brought under the Cotton Control Act last year by a few state governments.
