As of April 16, spring cotton planting is expected to have completed 35.9 percent of China's total planting areas, 19.4 percent slower than the same period last year.

Progress of planting in Northwest China is obviously faster than that in inland region and planting progress in the Yellow River region is faster than that in the Yangtze River region.

Overall, the cotton planting season this year has seen no severe weather conditions and planting work has gone smoothly and the results of those who had planted the earliest are good.

In Northwest, farmers start planting earlier as local temperatures rises rapidly. In North and coastal areas, farmers start planting later.
