Seladamex cotton processing plant in Battambang province has signed a deal with a Chinese factory to provide two-third of plant's raw cotton stock to the factory, the delivery for which will take place on February 28.
The plant is all prepared to export around 100 tons of raw cotton to the Chinese factory, said the Project Manager of the cotton processing plant, Mr. Kong Chan.
At present, the prices of cotton are around US $2,000 per ton in international markets. These prices had witnessed a $500 increase at the end of the previous year.
In last October, the plant had planned to export 1,000 tons of cotton to Vietnam, but the shipment was put on hold owing to the cotton scarcity.
